Welcome

Licensed, Local and Trusted in Cammeray

This is a licensed local team, not a call centre. Cammeray is our regular run, a leafy, village-feel pocket of Sydney's Lower North Shore that answered to the name Suspension Bridge long before it took the name of the Cammeraygal people.

Master Electricians Australia membership sits behind the work, and our NSW contractor licence number goes on every quote we hand over.

You get a fixed written price before we start, with no hourly meter running behind it. More about our team.

Every Electrical Service Cammeray Homes Call For

Six services, and between them they handle almost anything a house can throw at you. Some jobs are planned, like lighting out a new kitchen.

Others are not, like a board that trips the instant the kettle goes on. Every one of them is priced in writing, tested, and certified before we pack up.

Switchboard Upgrades

Switchboard upgrades swap a tired board for RCBOs, clear circuit labelling and a safety switch on every circuit. We size the new board around the appliances you actually run.

Light Installation

Tell us how the room really gets used and we plan the light installation around that. Downlights, pendants, dimmers, garden runs, security floodlights, all switched where your hand expects them.

EV Charger Installation

EV charger installation is a switchboard question long before it is a driveway question. For one of the apartment blocks around Miller Street, step one is checking what the existing supply can actually carry.

Emergency Electrician

If you can smell burning, our emergency electrician line is open 24/7 for the real thing. A licensed sparkie triages your fault by phone before a van moves.

Level 2 Electrician

Level 2 work is the network side, and we are accredited for it. Meter connections, the point of attachment, service lines running overhead or underground, consumer mains, defect rectification.

Residential Electrician

Everything else a house needs falls under residential electrician work. Rewires full or partial, fault finding, smoke alarms, data cabling, ceiling fans, and the power point that never once worked.

Local knowledge

Local Knowledge, From Federation Wiring to New Builds

Three building waves shaped Cammeray, and they each hid something different behind the wall plates.

The pre-1940 stock is what we open most. Federation houses and Californian bungalows sit along the ridge streets in double brick and weatherboard, and a strong renovation market keeps driving full and partial rewires through them.

Then the walk-up flats of the 1960s to 1980s. Then the apartment stock of the 2000s onward, arriving with modern boards and an entirely different job list.

The recurring one is missing RCDs. Older Federation and bungalow homes often have no safety switches at all, and it surfaces at the worst possible moment.

Usually a pre-sale inspection, or day one of a renovation when the sparkie opens the board and goes quiet. It is a compliance upgrade either way, and it is why so many of those houses end up needing a new board.

Palmer Street shows the other half of the story. Mature trees and deep gardens along the leafy ridge streets make outdoor lighting and garden power steady work, and the cable route matters more than the fitting does.

Double brick sets its own rules as well. You cannot chase a cable through it the way you can through a stud wall, so access drives the method, the duration and the price.

An Electrical Emergency in Cammeray? Act Fast

Some faults can sit until Tuesday. Not these.

  • A burning smell, scorch marks, or a warm switch plate
  • Sparks or arcing from a socket, a fitting or the board
  • A safety switch that trips again the second you reset it
  • Half the place dead while the neighbours still have lights
  • Water into a downlight, a fan or a wall socket
  • Fizzing, buzzing or crackling coming from the switchboard

Warm humid summers and storm activity drive these callouts, and a wet fitting never improves overnight.

Turn it off at the switchboard, keep everyone well clear, and ring (02) 9054 3079. A licensed sparkie answers, day or night, when it is genuinely urgent.

If the whole street is dark, the outage is Ausgrid's to fix rather than your wiring's. Everything from your switchboard inward is our job.

How we work

Our Process Keeps You in the Loop

You should never have to chase us for an update. Four steps run every job, from the first call through to the certificate hitting your inbox.

No mystery, no radio silence.

  1. 01

    Call and Describe the Fault

A real person answers the phone, not a call centre. Tell us what is happening and we book you in for a time that suits. A reminder text goes out the day before so nobody forgets.

  2. 02

The Quote, Handed Over on Site

Our sparkie walks the job with you, and the options get explained in plain English without any push toward the dearest one. Then you get a fixed written price before we start.

  3. 03

On the Tools, On Your Floors

Drop sheets down and the place left tidy, every time. We fit premium switchgear, not cheap imports. Should the job turn up something nobody could have seen coming, we stop there, walk you through it, and re-price before another cable goes in.

  4. 04

    Tested, Certified, Handed Back

Everything is tested before we sign off. Notifiable electrical work is lodged with NSW Fair Trading, and your certificate of compliance turns up by email alongside photos of the job as we left it.

Why Homeowners Here Pick Us

This is family territory, houses and units mixed together street by street, owners and renters in roughly even measure.

That mix changes the kind of sparkie people are after. Nobody along these streets is shopping for a one-off transaction.

They want a number worth keeping in the phone, and a team that remembers which board sits in the hallway.

We Turn Up When We Say

Bookings are often same or next day, and anything genuinely urgent jumps the queue. Running late means your phone rings first, not an apology afterwards.

The Guarantee Has No End Date

If a fault traces back to our workmanship, the repair carries no labour charge, for life.

We email your guarantee certificate the day we finish, and there is a 12-month product warranty riding on top.

Fifty Dollars Off the First Job

New customers take $50 off your first service, and the quote is free either way.

We don't charge by the hour, and the price we quote is the price you pay.

The Reviews Are All Public

Five-star ratings from 600+ customers sit on our Google listing, and you can read every one of them. John told us his job was done without fuss, and that the pricing beat the other quotes he was holding.

How we compare

How We Compare on the Things That Matter

Plenty of Sydney electricians do fine work. The gap opens up in the unglamorous details: what a quote includes, whether the price survives a long day, and whether the licence is one you can look up.

Safe and Compliant on Every Job

Compliance is not box-ticking. It is what separates a job that looks finished from one that is genuinely safe to live with for the next thirty years.

Four things stand behind every circuit we touch.

Wired to the Standard

Every circuit we install or alter is done to the AS/NZS 3000 wiring rules. That covers cable sizing, protection, earthing and testing, and none of it is negotiable on any job.

A Safety Switch on Every Circuit

Modern boards run RCBOs, which puts a safety switch (RCD) on every circuit instead of one shared unit. A fault in the toaster no longer takes the lights out with it.

DIY Is Never Worth It

DIY electrical work is illegal in NSW, and the reason is not bureaucratic. An unlicensed alteration can sit quietly inside a wall for years before it hurts somebody.

Insured, Not Just Licensed

Fully insured on every residential job we take.

Fully insured, and glad to show the certificates before a tool comes off the van.

Common questions

Common Electrical Questions, Answered

Six questions we field more than any others, answered straight. Anything else, just ring (02) 9054 3079 and ask.

What brands of switches and fittings do you install?

Clipsal and Hager switchgear on the board and the power points, SAL and Beacon Lighting for the fittings. Premium gear, not cheap imports, and each product picks up a 12-month product warranty beyond the manufacturer's own.

Can you install an EV charger at home?

Yes, and the switchboard usually decides how the job goes. We check what your existing supply can carry before quoting, which in a pre-1940 Cammeray house often means the board gets sorted first.

Do you offer emergency electrical work?

Yes, around the clock for anything genuinely dangerous. A licensed sparkie will work through the fault with you over the phone first, because you can often make it safe at the board before we arrive.

Do you do small jobs like a single power point?

Yes. A dead power point, a light that stopped, a fan that hums and does nothing, all of it gets quoted in writing like any other job, and there is no call-out fee for the quote.

Is there an electrician near Cammeray open on weekends?

Saturday work is available and gets booked the same way a weekday job does. Plenty of families here would rather not burn a day of leave waiting on a sparkie, so ring (02) 9054 3079 and we will find you a slot.

Are your electricians licensed and insured?

Yes. We hold NSW Electrical Contractor Licence #452529C, which is public and checkable before we knock, plus current workers compensation and public liability cover, and we are Master Electricians Australia members.
